In May 2014 I began working for Cyber Media Solutions as a web designer. As part of this role the first real full design project I was able to work on was for the purpose of a brief that was to be sent out to Northamptonshire County Council. The project that I was designing was for a website that would inform people on how to be prepared for flooding and assess the risks.
As part of the brief the council expressed a desire for the information to be conveyed in a more appealing way so as not to scare off potential users and not to treat the information as a source of fear. From this brief I began to develop a design that would use flat and softened imagery as a way of trying to put across the information in a less plain and regimented format.
With it being my first real professional design work I spent a long time on the small aspects that would make the design stand out, which made me really enjoy the process of creating this work. Ultimately the council decided against the need for this website but I was still happy with the design and from this point my role within the company has moved on leaps and bounds.
